After years of choreographing and dancing, Lotta Melin needed a break from the industry. It is not rare for artists to be overwhelmed by grants, looking for funding, being often in survival mode … all for the fulfilment of creating and sharing their voice. The business behind it can easily leave one depleted, depressed, doubting. One faces creative blocks. Burnt out, Ms. Melin decided to say goodbye to dancing with one last dance.
Then she had a dream.
The dream told her to pick up a brush and start painting.
To stay inspired and have the energy to find your place in the art world keeps people going from idea to idea, project to project …. and often work after work begin to look a lot alike. The technique is there but what about the imagination? Maybe something else is needed for that.
A break … a dream.
Isn’t that what made most artists step onto the artistic path anyway? Play, experiment and following one’s intuition is very important. But it takes a little bit of bravery to be still for a moment before moving on again ….
… we can only fully meet our creative desires — by meeting ourselves exactly where we are in the moment. Â
