Summer is definitely here! Even in the Northern Hemisphere, the temperatures are boiling! It’s time to grab a towel and head to the closest beach. Thankfully, Stockholm, in this heat, doesn’t disappoint. From any point in the center of the city, it seems that we are just minutes away from a beach or salt or fresh water. It’s time to run and curl up like the biggest cannonboll and SPLASH! It's time to step away from our regular routines and tasks for a bit and see if we can be creative in new ways.
If our featured artists Marcus Mårtenson taught us anything this month, it's the value of play, exploring without fear of failure, or meeting someone else's ideas and expectations. Why not grab a crayon and start painting if you normally work with collage, oil paints or photography? Explore our Archive and get inspired by Mårtenson's drawings! In the first volume of our print magazine, Mårtenson gave us an input in how he detects the Muse and accesses his creative source. He shares some great tips!
Instead of burdening yourself with what you typically do, take advantage of the upcoming warm months to unwind your body, clear your mind, and maybe consider what you want to accomplish next. You might also think about printing your artwork on blanket, as Marcus Mårtenson did with the fashion label Schnayderman’s (above image). Alternately, create a drawing based on a page you are currently reading in a book or magazine. What additional possibilities have you never thought of?
To inspire you to create a space where you can get in touch with your inner child and get dirty and play, we will share with our paid subscribers a few photos taken by our writer Maja Milanovic of Mårtenson’s colourful studio that makes every soul giggle.
