Tarantula: Authors and Art's Featured Artist of September
Raising to Transcendental Consciousness with Lithuanian painter Rūta Matulevičiūtė
I am a Lithuanian artist. While my main medium is painting, I love to explore other mediums.
The main goal of my art is to present the audience with the experience of the sublime and boundless beauty of life. My method is consciousness-based creation which focuses on self-development, the experience of the sublime of life in the transcendental field of consciousness, and the expression of it.
I always look for an ever more fundamental and holistic approach to the idea. This makes me focus on the psychology, the individual journey of transformation, ancient traditions, and most importantly - the vast Baltic mythology which is rooted in the Indo-European tradition.
Lithuania was the last country in Europe to keep its ancient Baltic religion, this makes our lore still alive up to this day, hidden under the layer of the mundane.
In my own individual journey, I have experienced that the more subtle levels of reality, the more merged and unified everything becomes.
This is why surrealism and magical realism are most prominent in my work.

Tarantula: Authors And Art is delighted to transfer from summer to autumn with the help of Lithuanian artist, Rūta Matulevičiūtė’s paintings that remind us of the fluidity of life. While many of us just dive into September with no worry, for others, memories of the summer linger on; followed by a dose of melancholia. To keep motivated, we need a reminder that we can find beauty in each day of our life, not just on vacation. But how?
To quote Henry Thoreau, the question is not what you look at, but what do you see.
And Matulevičiūtė’s sees magical worlds surrounding us at all times.
By looking at the paintings of this young Lithuanian painter, we are also given an opportunity to relax. Only relaxed, we can approach the new work season content, with vitality and open up to creativity. In the hustle and bustle of the work week, Rūta’s paintings remind us to seek silence, because it is silence that provide our minds with true bliss, not achievements. With vacation behind us and full calendars ahead, let’s be reminded to take out time for personal development.
September, we are ready to raise our minds to a higher level of consciousness. Be ready!
