“My name is Marcus Mårtenson and I am a Swedish artist living and working in Stockholm. I work primarily with pastel crayon on wood as my medium. My paintings are a figurative transcription of the modern myths and stories that are created when the real world intersects with the digital. They deal with issues such as consumption, surveillance and social media. I also try to draw the viewer's attention to the difference between reality and the media.

I often present my works in large clusters that create new and multifaceted connections and readings between them. My inspiration comes partly from growing up in  New York in the 1980s, but I’m also inspired by how humans are changing in relation to modern technologies.”

- Marcus Mårtenson
