We are thrilled to announce that "Tarantula: Authors And Art" has been selected to participate in the innovative Supermarket Art Fair, set to take place in Stockholm, Sweden, from April 25th to the 28th, 2024.
Curated by Maja Milanovic, editor of "Tarantula: Authors And Art," our exhibition, titled "The Dreams of Utopia," embodies this year's theme of "Dreaming" at the Supermarket Art Fair. Against the backdrop of current global realities, our booth will feature a captivating group show of expatriate women artists whose works delve into the realms of Utopian ideals and the complexities of reality.
Born in Yugoslavia, a utopia that didn't fulfill its promise, photographer Sandra Vitaljic, recently relocated from Croatia to Sweden, motivated by her dream of living in a democratic utopia. Her photography vividly captures the realities she encountered, interweaving personal narratives from other expatriate women she met, unveiling their aspirations, resilience, and the daily challenges they faced.
Paula Elion, an Argentinean-Israeli artist, artwork serves as a chronicle of migration and adaptation, drawing from her familial history as well as encounters with refugees, serving as a poignant reminder of the human quest for a better life.
Christelle Mas, originating from France and currently based in Finland, presents different visions of a world that has become uninhabitable for an increasing number of living species, while exploring possible and dreamed spaces and biological species for the future. The concept of a better future is depicted in the ‘Territories’ photographs, portraying timeless and paradisiacal landscapes where we seek to push beyond the horizon. Can we rebuild our lives anywhere in this ever-changing frontier?
Vitaljic's poignant photography, Elion's moving painting, and Mas's visionary artworks collectively invite viewers to contemplate alternative destinies beyond our present reality.
We extend a cordial invitation to art enthusiasts and dreamers alike to join us at the Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm between April 25th until the 28th.

And while we were dreaming of new utopias, we were surprised to hear that this month’s featured artist Muhammad Ali also participated in a show with a similar topic, Nutopia, at Studio 44 in Stockholm. With the turmoil that is going on in the world in the past decade or so, and borders becoming more secure and narrower once again, it is perhaps not so unusual that many, especially those displaced and creative, feel compelled to create a new world. Thus, we wanted to chat a little bit more with Muhammad Ali about this show, the main character of most of his drawings Aeiou, and about how his artistic practice differs in the country of his birth and the country where he found refuge.
